Our Ethics
ARAMARK Ireland is committed to being a responsible company and have put significant focus across the four recognised areas of Corporate Responsibility; Marketplace, Workplace, Environment and Community. We are continuously developing strategies to help make a positive impact on the environment in which we operate.
Corporate Responsibility is critical to driving actions through the company. At ARAMARK Ireland, we are fully committed to driving necessary change through our decision-making process.
Health & Wellness
Consumers now demand to know more about the food they are eating. ARAMARK Ireland is committed to increasing the range of healthy options in all categories and driving consumption through promotions and awareness campaigns.
In the 2005 & 2007, ARAMARK Ireland commissioned an in depth research programme in association with Amarach Research into the eating habits of consumers.
In 2008, we launched our Right Track Programme, aimed at creating an awareness of healthy eating and work life balance to our consumers.
In partnership with our suppliers, ARAMARK Ireland maximises our support of locally produced products. The main benefit is the support of Irish Farmers and producers and delivery of Irish products onto our shelves, into our kitchens and out to our customers.
Employee Advocacy
ARAMARK Ireland has a responsibility to its employees, customers and clients. Healthy eating and the challenges of obesity cannot be ignored. ARAMARK Ireland is building on its Intelligent Dining programme to ensure that the company gives everyone balanced and practical information and options to make the choice to eat healthily an easy one.
We think that it is critical for our employees to understand what Corporate Responsibility really means and to gain their commitment, both in their operations and at home. We encourage them to participate in responsible activities, whether that’s joining in with community projects through the company or switching to energy efficient light bulbs at home.
We also believe it is very important to understand our clients’ Corporate Responsibility activities and dovetail in with those to assist them achieve their targets.
ARAMARK Ireland were awarded the IHI Diversity Award in 2008 and IHI Diversity Award 2009 for their initiatives implemented at their Catering Operations in encouraging Integration and Diversity in the workplace.
Environmental Stewardship
ARAMARK Ireland has set itself the targets of reducing the carbon footprint of all owned / controlled properties.
We are reviewing our own fleet, as well of that of our suppliers, to look at ways of reducing food miles through smarter distribution methods and the use of more locally-sourced products.
Recycling of waste and the conservation of energy are critical areas and ARAMARK Ireland can recommend ways to challenge these factors in line with the client’s requirements and recommend additional innovative methods that can be introduced.
At our Annual Awards Ceremony, we recognise and reward both individual employees and teams that show initiative in Energy and Environmental Issues throughout their facilities through our Environmental Award.
In 2007, ARAMARK Ireland was awarded the Green Hospitality Award across a number of our restaurants.
We have a dedicated Environmental Committee and each year we publish a CSR Report, for more details, contact our Environmental Committee at aiec@aramark.ie
Community Involvement
Community activity is led by our employees. We provide the framework for ARAMARK Ireland employees to make a real difference to their local area with its goal to make a positive impact on the communities in which the organisation operates.
ARAMARK Ireland also encourages teams and individuals to take part in their own choice of activities and these are publicised both internally, in our employee magazine, ‘Newswire’, and externally, often through the local press. ARAMARK Ireland operates a charitable fund that recognises employees for their successful fundraising activities and contributes to their chosen charities.
Since 2008, we have been exclusive Catering Partners to the Odlums National Pancake Party in aid of the National Children's Hospital where we raised over €15,000 euro across our restaurants
Each year, ARAMARK Ireland requests their employees to nominate charities that they would like us to support as our charity beneficiaries across the company.
For 2010, our Nominated Charities are:
